Dr VIVIAN CHUA

Dr. Vivian Chua is a Vice Chancellor’s Research Fellow at Edith Cowan University (ECU), Perth, Western Australia. Dr. Chua obtained her PhD in 2016 from the University of Western Australia in cancer/molecular biology and then trained as a post-doctoral research fellow at Thomas Jefferson University (Philadelphia, USA) under the mentorship of melanoma researcher, Professor Andrew Aplin. Since 2020, she was promoted to junior faculty positions, Research Instructor and Research Assistant Professor and returned to Perth in 2024 to establish and lead the Cancer Cell Biology research group at ECU. Dr. Chua’s research focuses on studying the biology of uveal melanoma metastasis to the liver, mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies and identifying effective strategies to better treat or control liver metastases such as uveal melanoma. Dr. Chua has been supported by multiple fellowships and funding including the U.S. Department of Defense Melanoma Academy Scholar Award which was successfully transferred with her to Australia.
