Associate Professor Lavinia Spain is a Medical Oncologist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne who treats melanoma and genitourinary cancers. She is the Clinical Lead for Melanoma within the Medical Oncology Department. She undertook a 4-year Fellowship in the Renal and Melanoma Unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. During this time, she completed an MD(Res) degree at the Francis Crick Institute, through the Institute of Cancer Research in London. Her thesis focused on novel approaches to the analysis of tumour heterogeneity and evolution and led to several important publications. Her current research interests include the management of immune-related adverse events, the role of diet to improve ICI outcomes in melanoma and implementation of complex immune-therapeutics including TIL therapy.
